LocalHarvest is conducting a grassroots survey this fall, comparing the price of local produce to that of the “shipped in” variety. There are many good reasons to buy local food, and the benefits go far beyond price. Freshness, quality, nutritional value, and the socioeconomic value of buying directly from family farmers are all important reasons to buy local produce.
This should be interesting! I’m going to start gathering up information. How about you? The due date is December 1, 2008.
